Londoners fed up with phone thieves catch suspect seconds after theft | British News

A suspected phone thief was arrested seconds after the phone was stolen after police officers helped arrest him.

CCTV footage shows two men on electric bikes riding up Ludgate Hill towards St Paul’s. The video shows the first suspect stealing a phone from a woman. They were encountered by police officers, and the first suspect escaped officers by driving away at high speed on the sidewalk.

The second suspect, aged 23, from Southwark, turned in the direction where the phone was stolen. The public who witnessed the phone theft slowed the suspect down, allowing officers running down the street to arrest him.

One sticker comes from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and is dated October 7th. If this is your phone or you know who owns the phone, please call 020 7601 2222 quoting 616958. One suspect was released on bail pending further investigations. Police officers follow up on information to identify and arrest the suspect.

“If you come into town with the intent to steal phones, expect to be met by officers on proactive patrol who will arrest you and bring you to justice.”
