Enemy attacks power plant in Sumy region, over 100 settlements are without electricity

In the Sumy region, the enemy attacked a power plant and 104 settlements of the Romny municipality were cut off from electricity.

This was reported by Sumyoblenergo JSC on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

“This morning the Russian army attacked one of the energy facilities in the Sumy region. As a result, more than 37,000 consumers in the Romny region (104 settlements) were temporarily disconnected from the power grid,” the utility said.

It is noted that more than 14,000 more electricity consumers are without electricity due to Russian military aggression in the border areas of the Sumy region, which includes 130 settlements.

“All efforts of power engineers are aimed at restoring electricity distribution to every home,” assures Sumyoblenergo.

For her part, Valentyna Nazarenko, first deputy head of the Romny District State Administration, said that rescuers had located the fire at the power plant.

“As of 8:50 a.m., rescue and firefighting units from the state rescue service have located the fire at the damaged energy system. An investigation team is on site. Nobody was killed or injured,” Nazarenko said.

According to her, there is damage in the private housing sector.

As the agency previously reported, air defense destroyed eleven kamikaze drones in the Sumy region at night.
