Saskatchewan man charged with stealing $60,000 worth of diesel fuel in Alberta

Police in Lloydminster have charged a Saskatchewan man with stealing nearly $60,000 worth of diesel fuel from across the province.

In a media release Monday, Lloydminster RCMP said they received a report on March 11 of a fraud case in which a fuel card was stolen from a business in the city, which is 230 kilometers east of Edmonton on the Alberta-Saskatchewan border .

Following an investigation, RCMP charged a Success, Sask., man with multiple offenses after discovering he used the fuel card to purchase $57,969.55 worth of diesel fuel across Alberta and then sold it at a discount.

The charges include 10 counts of unlawful use of a credit card, eight counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000 and three counts of dealing in stolen property.

The man was held for a court hearing and then released. He is due in an Alberta court in Lloydminster on November 5.
