Red Dead Redemption 2 – Is there still a native PS5 version coming?

It looks like Rockstar Games actually still has a native PS5 port Red Dead Redemption 2 works – at least if you take an employee’s CV as an indication. Rumors have been circulating for some time about a version of the game for the current generation of consoles. These rumors have been supported in the past by an internal Microsoft document that confirmed the development of a port. However, it was later reported that Rockstar Games had stopped development.

Leak gives hope again

However, a new leak could raise hopes for a PS5 version of the western epic, especially in relation to the upcoming PS5 Pro. The leak comes from an X user named bogorad222the one on LinkedIn profile Emma Andersona production coordinator at Rockstar Games is said to have found a mention of “Red Dead Redemption PS5/Switch”. Anderson’s profile is verified, which supports the credibility of the leak.

What’s interesting is that Anderson started her position at Rockstar in June 2023, shortly before the release of Red Dead Redemption for PS4 and Switch as well as the 60 FPS update for the PS5. This leads to speculation that they may not be based on the first part, but on Red Dead Redemption 2 could relate.

Either Anderson is actually talking about a future update or patch for Red Dead Redemption 1although that seems unlikely after the 60 FPS patch. Or Rockstar Games has started working on the PS5 port Red Dead Redemption 2 resumed – possibly taking into account the new hardware of the PS5 Pro and as a bridge until the release of GTA 6which has recently been significantly delayed.
